OZARK, Arkansas –- A small plane that took off from the Tulsa airport crashed while trying to make an emergency landing in Ozark, Arkansas. Authorities in western Arkansas say a husband and wife suffered minor injuries.

Sgt. Brent Scott with the Franklin County sheriff's office says the pilot was taken to a hospital for minor injuries after the plane crashed about 3:30 p.m. Friday in a field near the Ozark airport. Scott says the one passenger in the four-passenger plane also had minor injuries -- but was not hospitalized.

Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Lynn Lunsford said the aircraft apparently experienced engine failure and crashed about one-quarter mile south of the airport.

The plane is registered to Tuttle & Associates, a Tulsa-based engineering firm. Scott says the single-engine plane either overshot or missed the airport runway.
