CHOUTEAU, Oklahoma -

An 8-year-old boy is recovering in a Tulsa hospital after he was thrown from a pickup truck that struck several trees Monday evening.

The crash happened on Spring Creek Road in Mayes County just before 6 p.m.

According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol accident report, the 31-year-old female driver lost control on the dirt road and struck the trees.

The boy, who was in the bed of the pickup, was thrown an unknown distance during the crash.

The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition. The driver and a 3-year-old passenger were not injured.
