Before Frank Anderson had even packed up his office in Stillwater, Rob Walton's name popped up as his possible successor at Oklahoma State.

"It's all happened today and it's all news to me," Walton said at ORU's practice on Tuesday.

Walton, a former Cowboys pitcher, guided Oral Roberts to its 15th-straight NCAA tournament appearance this season. The Golden Eagles have won the Summit League tournament 15 years in a row. Over the past nine seasons since being named the head coach at ORU, Walton has been named the conference coach of the year five times.

His resume speaks for itself. Now he is answering questions about his future.

"I've been here a long time," he said. "I know my players are going to hear about it but we're just going to focus on what we're doing here."

Anderson won 329 games while at Oklahoma State but his teams lost 308 times. Walton has gone 364-165 as the head coach at Oral Roberts. He says returning to where it all started would be something to consider.

"If something materializes we'll see but right now I'm just focused on our club and ORU baseball."

ORU beat North Dakota State twice on Saturday to advance to regional play. The Golden Eagles face Baylor in Waco, Tex. Friday at 6 p.m.
