San Antonio Drills OKC, Takes 2-0 Series Advantage

The San Antonio Spurs snatched up game two of the Western Conference finals Tuesday night with a 120-111 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Spurs now own a 2-0 series lead and have won 20-straight games in a span between the regular season and playoffs.

Tony Parker scored 34 points and Manu Ginobili added 20 as the Spurs shot 55 percent from the field and 42 percent from 3-point range on the night.

The Thunder trailed by as many as 22 points in the third quarter and even after a late surge that pulled them within six points, OKC still combat Parker, Ginobili and Time Duncan down the stretch.

Kevin Durant had 31 points and James Harden scored 30 in a big turnaround from his rough game one performance.

"Our guys played hard," said Thunder head coach Scott Brooks after the game. "Unfortunately, we came away with nothing the last few days."

San Antonio picked up where it left off from the 39-point fourth quarter they posted in game one by jumping out to a 19-9 lead.

OKC missed six of their first seven shots and had three early turnovers in just the first four minutes of the game.

On the flip side, San Antonio shot 52 percent in the opening frame and after Durant and Westbrook sat for the start of the second quarter, the Spurs went on a 14-4 stretch and led 55-44 at the break.

San Antonio took care of the ball much better than they did in game one, only committing six in the first half compared to 14 from last game. In addition the Spurs shot 58 percent in the opening half while OKC only converted 17-of-47 for 36 percent.

Late in the third OKC began intentionally fouling Tiago Splitter, a 32 percent free-throw shooter. It did seem to disrupt San Antonio's rhythm momentarily, but Splitter went 5-for-10 in a span of just under a minute.

The Thunder had the deficit down to six with just over 5 minutes remaining and the Spurs missed 12-of-15 shots at one point, but Parker netted a jumper with 3:30 left for a 107-96 advantage that San Antonio would control the rest of the game.

The series now shifts back to Oklahoma City as game three is set for Thursday at 8 p.m. inside the Chesapeake Energy Arena.

The Thunder undoubtedly hopes to bounce back with a little help from the home crowd as OKC went 26-7 on the home floor. Regardless the remainder of the series will be exciting as only 14 teams in NBA playoff history have come back from 2-0 deficits to win the series—the question is, will this year make 15?
