A chance of severe storms is in the forecast for Green Country through Wednesday evening and overnight, according to the News On 6 WARN Weather Team.

The forecast carries an 80 percent chance of showers for the Tulsa area, with a high temperature of 89 degrees.

"Thunderstorms will develop across south-central Kansas and northwestern Oklahoma this afternoon and move southeast this evening, forming a complex of thunderstorms producing very large hail and damaging winds," News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone said.

There's a slight risk of severe thunderstorm activity for most of Eastern Oklahoma, including the Tulsa metro.

"The parameters [Wednesday night] will support very large hail and damaging winds from 60 to 80 mph, but the current data projections would place these higher storm parameters to our west," Crone said.

Crone said the tornado threat is not exceptionally high in northeastern OK, but there remains a chance. Northwestern Oklahoma carries the highest threat, Crone said.

The system will sweep eastward early Thursday, but there may be some scattered showers or storms across extreme eastern parts of the state and western Arkansas.

Temperatures aren't expected to reach the 90s again until after the weekend.
