It may be summertime, but that doesn't mean a break in the action for high school football teams across the state, in fact a handful of them took the field in a seven-on-seven tournament over the weekend.

Eight Oklahoma high school teams gathered at East Central High School in Tulsa to play in the Red Bull Game Breakers Oklahoma qualifying tournament.

Booker T. Washington, Broken Arrow, Central, Edison, Edmond North, Metro Christian Midwest City and Yukon all participated in the event with the top two teams advancing to the national finals in Dallas.

The semifinal matchup between Booker T. and Midwest City was one of the highlights of the day. Booker T. tied up the game in last play of regulation, sending it into overtime. Described by many as "one of the greatest games in Red Bull Game Breakers history," play went into overtime 4 times, with a final score of 48-47.

Midwest City advanced onto the qualifier Finals, to face the Broken Arrow Tigers and in the end, BA defeated the Bombers 22-5 with both teams solidifying their place in national finals.

"We have been training hard for this at team camp and in practice, so we just came to play today," said tournament MVP and Broken Arrow Cornerback, Jalen Woodard. "We are looking forward to the national championship. From winning this, we know that training is going to have to step up way more."

"We are really familiar with the 7-on-7 game, which is obviously different because there is no blocking or tackling," said Jason Sexton, Midwest City coach. "You have to be really technical as opposed to the physicality of a normal game which can sometimes make up for your technical abilities."

The Red Bull Game Breakers tournament consists of 10 regional qualifiers, 174 football teams, 3,100 high school athletes and one all-star studded final that will take place in Dallas on July 11-13.
