Jay Udwadia Tabbed As New OSU Men's Tennis Coach

Oklahoma State athletic director Mike Holder has tabbed Jay Udwadia to replace James Wadley as the head coach of the men's tennis team at OSU.

Udwadia has spent the past eight seasons as the head men's tennis coach at Fresno State University, where he directed the Bulldogs to the last two Western Athletic Conference titles.

He replaces Wadley, who retired this year after 40 seasons at the helm of the Cowboys' men's tennis program. Wadley was the longest tenured coach in Oklahoma State history.

"Jay has spent the past eight years steadily improving the tennis program at Fresno State," Holder said. "He is a proven head coach with a blue print for the future of Oklahoma State. We are excited for him to get started."

Udwadia has also served as the head coach at Drake University, and began his career as an assistant coach at Northwestern University.

"It feels great to have this opportunity," Udwadia said. "Oklahoma State has a great reputation and the athletic department has a great reputation. It feels good to get to be a part of that."

Udwadia said he is looking forward to starting at OSU and is ready to begin the transition.

"First we need to establish a good foundation and culture as a team," Udwadia said. "We need to promote a competitive mindset where we focus on improving every day and our specific goals will come after that."

The hire is pending approval from the OSU Board of Regents.
