TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Tulsa Drillers struggled once again against Springfield, falling to the Cardinals 5-1, managing just three hits in the process.

Trevor Rosenthal (5-5) was key to the Cardinals' success, pitching seven innings for Springfield, giving up one earned run on three hits and striking out seven batters in the process. The only earned run came in the bottom of the third, an RBI double from Angelys Nina to take a 1-0 advantage.

However, that would be the only run Tulsa would manage in the win, while Springfield hung four runs on the board in the next half-inning.

A string of three consecutive singles, capped off by Chris Swauger, brought Jermaine Curtis across the play and put Oscar Tavares on third base to tie the game. Two at-bats later, Greg Garcia singled to third base to bring Tavares home to take a 2-1 advantage. Adam Melker hit a sacrifice fly in the next at-bat, bringing Swauger home to take a two-run lead. Travis Tartamella reached on a fielding error in the following at-bat, allowing Garcia to score.

Garcia added one more to his RBI total in the top of the sixth thanks to a solo home run in the top of the sixth to give the Cardinals a 5-1 lead.

Joe Gardner (3-3) received a loss for his six innings of work, giving up eight hits and four earned runs in his outing.

Tulsa will now try to avoid losing back-to-back contests against the Cardinals, starting the fourth game of the series at 7:05 p.m. Saturday.
