Shock Unable To Hold Off Chicago In Loss

The Tulsa Shock looked to be in line to win their first game of the season Friday, but a late push from the Chicago Sky forced overtime, with the Shock falling 98-91 in overtime.

Tulsa went into the fourth quarter trailing 54-49, but strung together a big run to open the fourth quarter to take a lead. The Shock snapped off a 15-3 run, including eight from Jennifer Lacy, to take a 64-57 lead with five minutes left to play.

The Shock's lead would hold until the final moments of the game, but late-game heroics from the Sky sunk Tulsa's hopes for a win in regulation.

Trailing 73-66 with 32 seconds left to play, Chicago snapped off an 11-4 run, capped off by a buzzer-beating three-pointer from Epiphanny Price, to tie the game 77-77 and force an extra five minutes.

Ivory Latta knocked down a three-pointer just ten seconds into the overtime period, but the Sky took over at that point. Chicago scored 11 unanswered points, part of a larger 14-2 run to take a 91-82 lead with just 52 seconds left to play. At that point, it turned into a free throw contest for the Sky, closing out the game and the win.

Price finished with a game-high 32 points and five assists, while Sylvia Fowles was a monster on the boards, grabbing 21 boards to go along with her 14 points in the win.

Latta led the charge for Tulsa, scoring 25 points and dishing out six assists, with Glory Johnson chipping in 17 points and five rebounds.

Tulsa will try to snap its seven-game losing streak at 7 p.m. Saturday at home against the Minnesota Lynx.
