The Oklahoma Sooners had their backs against the wall heading into Sunday's matchup with the South Carolina Gamecocks. Thanks to Mother Nature, they live to play another day.

Rain has been wrecking havoc on the NCAA Super Regionals being played on the east coast, and the Sooners and Gamecocks were the latest victims. Play was suspended Sunday night in the middle of the sixth inning.

The Sooners and Gamecocks will resume game two in the bottom of the sixth inning at 3:05 p.m. CST on ESPN2.

Play had previously been suspended after the fifth inning, when rain that had been falling steadily throughout the evening began coming down harder. After an hour delay, the teams were able to squeeze in the top of the sixth, before heavier rain sent the teams to the clubhouse for the night.

The stars of the night were the pitchers, as both teams had combined for four hits so far in the game.

OU's Jonathan Gray pitched all six innings for OU, giving up just three hits and four walks, while striking out nine batters. On the other side, South Carolina pitcher Colby Holmes had given up just one hit through five innings with two walks and three strikeouts.

If the Sooners win tomorrow afternoon, a decisive game three will begin at 6 p.m. CST. It will also be broadcast on ESPN2.
