TULSA, Oklahoma -

The Oral Roberts community, especially the athletics department is mourning the loss of former men's basketball coach Dick Acres.

The University released a statement Monday saying Coach Acres passes away last week.

Acres led the ORU men's basketball program from 1982-1985 and took the Titans to the NCAA tournament, the second appearance in school history.

In his three seasons as the helm of the program, Acres won 58 percent of his games (47-34) and claimed the 1983-84 Midwestern Collegiate Conference championship.

His tenure was aided by his two sons, Mark and Jeff, who both rank in the top-10 in career scoring.
