Shock Drop Ninth Consecutive Road Game At Los Angeles

Posted: Updated:
Los Angeles, CALIFORNIA -

Candace Parker scored 33 points, and had a near triple-double with eight rebounds and nine blocks as the Los Angeles Sparks pummeled the Tulsa Shock, 95-79.

Parker hit 14-21 shots for the game, and the Sparks as a team shot 54.8 percent from the field. The nine blocks were a career high for Parker.

Glory Johnson led the Shock with 19 points on a miserable shooting night for Tulsa. The Shock shot just 29-78 for a 37.2 percent clip for the game. However, the Shock did attempt 16 more shots than Los Angeles, thanks to 18 offensive rebounds.

Tulsa held the lead for most of the first quarter, and had closed within two with just a few seconds left. However, Johnson fouled Los Angeles guard Kristi Toliver while she was shooting a three-pointer, and Toliver hit all three free thows to give the Sparks a 28-23 lead going to the second quarter.

The Sparks continued to click on all cylinders offensively, extending that five-point lead to 10, at 49-39 by halftime. Los Angeles hit an incredible 20 of 29 shots in the first half.

The second half was much of the same, with the Sparks putting on an offensive clinic led by Parker. The Shock cut the lead to 10 on multiple occasions, and even got it down to nine with four and a half minutes left in the game, but was unable to get any closer.

The Sparks are undefeated at home this season, with Wednesday's win pushing their record this season to 6-0.

The Shock return home to take on the Indiana Fever Saturday at 7 p.m. at the BOK Center.
