A one-vehicle collision claimed the life of a Byars, Oklahoma, man early Saturday morning. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers say alcohol was to blame in the crash.

It happened just before 1 a.m. Saturday, at 43281 Drummond Road in Pottawatomie County. A 2004 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 46-year-old Danny Lloyd Weaver was southbound on Drummond Road when it ran off the roadway to the left, striking an embankment and a fence.

The truck then overturned two and a quarter times. Weaver was thrown out of the vehicle during the crash. He was pronounced dead at the scene due to internal injuries, troopers said.

According to OHP, Weaver was not wearing a seatbelt. The cause of the crash was listed as "alcohol-DWI/DUI" in the OHP collision report.

Troopers said they did smell an odor of alcohol beverage on Weaver.
