Indiana Fever Escape With Victory Over Shock

Posted: Updated:
TULSA, Oklahoma -

Erin Phillips hit a three-pointer with 16.4 seconds remaining, and Indiana survived a fourth quarter rally to escape with a 73-70 victory over the Tulsa Shock.

The Shock (1-11) had a chance to tie, but Ivory Latta's three-point attempt missed with 3.1 seconds remaining to seal the victory for the Fever (7-4).

Glory Johnson led the Shock with 22 points and former Oklahoma Sooner star Courtney Paris added a double-double in 15 minutes off the bench with 10 points and 11 rebounds in her first home game as a member of the Shock.

Tamika Catchings led four Fever players in double-figures with 16 points.

Tulsa led early, but the Fever grabbed a 4-3 lead with 7:22, and led the rest of the way.

Indiana led by eight going into the fourth quarter, but the Shock chipped away at the led throughout the quarter, finally tying the game at 67 on two Johnson free throws with 53.5 seconds remaining.

The two free throws capped a 13-2 run over the previous four minutes for Tulsa.

On the next possession, Johnson fouled Tammy Sutton-Brown with 37.2 seconds left. Sutton-Brown made one of two free throws, but Catchings got the rebound, and the ball eventually found its way to Phillips, who nailed the back-breaking three-pointer.

Johnson responded with a three-pointer of her own, before Catchings hit two free throws for the final margin.

The Shock is in the midst of a six-game homestand. Their next game will be Tuesday against Los Angeles. Tip time is 7 p.m.
