TULSA, Oklahoma -

With the temperature expected in the triple digits Monday, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for all of eastern Oklahoma.

The heat advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in areas including Tulsa, Muskogee, Bartlesville and McAlester.

In Tulsa, an Ozone Alert is also in place and forecasters are warning people with heart or respiratory problems to limit their physical exertion and outdoor activities because of high levels of ozone.

News On 6 meteorologist Alan Crone expects the heat advisory and ozone alert to be re-issued for the rest of the week.

Crone says with daytime highs above 100 along with the impact of heat index values, the potential for heat stress will be increasing during the next few days.

He advises residents to take plenty of breaks if working outside and keep hydrated with water.

Crone discusses the reasons behind this heat wave in his latest blog at NewsOn6.com.
