GOODWELL, Oklahoma -

The United Transportation Union has identified three Union Pacific crew members who died in a train collision near Goodwell, Oklahoma, on Sunday.

The UTU says 50-year-old Brian L. Stone, of Dalhart, Texas, engineer Dan Hall, and engineer John Hall died when the two trains collided head-on. Conductor Juan Zurita was able to jump to safety before the trains hit.

The collision also sparked an intense diesel fuel-fed fire, according to officials. A nearby small airport and a trailer park were evacuated due to thick, black smoke.

The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the collision.

Authorities reopened all lanes of U.S. Highway 54 near Goodwell around 10:30 p.m. Monday.
