A fugitive accused of driving drunk, crashing his car into a tree and leaving his paralyzed wife at the scene has been arrested after a months-long search.

Jerry Wayne Arthurs, 25, was arrested by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol on Tuesday evening after what authorities said was a search in which they would "spare no expense."

Arthurs became a wanted man after the New Year's Eve wreck that put his wife -- the mother of his infant son -- in the hospital for 33 days. As a result of her injuries from the crash, Chiane Arthurs was diagnosed as quadriplegic.

In April, 10 Creek County warrants were issued for Jerry Arthurs, including: Leaving the scene of an injury accident; DUI causing great bodily injury; furnishing alcohol to a person under 21; fail to render aid at the scene of an accident; fail to report a personal injury accident; giving beer to a minor; driving while suspended; failure to maintain security verification (insurance); failure to wear seatbelt; and failure to submit to drug/alcohol testing after accident resulting in injury.

Total bond for all counts was set at $72,550.

Earlier this year, Chiane Arthurs told News On 6 she filed for divorce from Jerry Arthurs, was regaining some movement in her arms and is still confined to a wheelchair.

She even said that, after the wreck, she battled thoughts of suicide.

"You cannot imagine the struggle and emotional and physical pain and everything that comes with an injury like this," Chiane Arthurs said. "It completely turns your life upside down."

Court records show Jerry Arthurs had two previous DUI cases.
