SAN ANTONIO, Texas -

Despite the three-day layoff for the All-Star Break, the Tulsa Drillers' skid continued Friday, dropping the series opener to San Antonio 3-0, with their offense effectively shut down by the Missions' starting pitching.

Josh Greer (3-2) pitched seven innings for San Antonio, giving up just two hits and striking out four in his outing for the Missions. After giving up two-out singles in the first and second innings, Greer retired 16 consecutive batters to keep the Drillers in check.

San Antonio took the board in the bottom of the first, after Jonathan Galvez was hit by a pitch in the second at-bat of the inning, Cody Decker doubled to center field to bring him home, taking 1-0 lead.

The Missions stayed silent for the next six innings, finally managing to put some space between them and the Drillers in the bottom of the second, capitalizing on pitching miscues.

Jeudy Valdez hit a leadoff double, advancing to second in the next at-bat thanks to a wild pitch. Rymer Liriano drew a walk in the following at-bat and Dean Anna brought Valdez across the plate thanks to a sacrifice fly. Four at-bats later, Lars Davis allowed a ball to pass, allowing Liriano to score, giving San Antonio a 3-0 lead.

Jose Gardner (3-5) was credited with a loss for the outing, giving up three earned runs on six hits, getting pulled after 6.1 innings of service.

The Drillers will be back in action at 7:05 p.m. Saturday, trying to avoid a five-game losing streak in the process.
