A former Fairfax teacher has been charged with two counts of second-degree rape in connection to a sexual relationship she allegedly had with a student.
Melissa Dawn Anson, 42, is accused of having sex with a male student who attended Woodland High School when she was employed there as a teacher's aide in 2010.
She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, July 24.
According to the Pawnee County Sheriff's Office, Anson admitted to having a relationship with the 18-year-old student. She said she knew the young man from school then met him at his uncle's house at a get-together following a funeral.
Anson said she and the student had sex in a truck parked at the cemetery. A week later, they again had sex in the vehicle. On the second occasion, the victim's 16-year-old cousin was "asleep in the back seat of the truck," according to court documents.
Court documents indicate that the 18-year-old student told authorities he had sex with Anson on two different occasions in April of 2010.
Under Oklahoma law, it's considered rape for a teacher or similar school employee to have sex with a student even if the student has reached the age of 18.
