Oklahoma Grand Jury Indicts Six Men In Stolen Farm Equipment Scheme

Posted: Updated:

Six Bartlesville men have been indicted in what prosecutors call a scheme to obtain and sell stolen farm equipment, with some intended buyers as far away as Mexico, a grand jury found.

Grand jury documents unsealed Friday afternoon in Washington County accuse the men -– Phillip Howard Hawk, 72; Coy Leroy Short, 65; Joseph E. Fairchild, 55; Stevie Starks, 48; George E. Baker, 64; Kory Lowell Pierson, 39 – of several crimes.

Charges include concealing or receiving stolen or embezzled construction or farm equipment, obtaining money, property, or thing of value by false pretense of husbandry, possession of a vehicle without a Vehicle Identification Number, conspiracy to commit the crime of receiving or concealing stolen farm equipment and racketeering.

The documents say Hawk, through his company P.H. Hawk Trucking, is in the business of delivering horses to Mexico for slaughter.

Hawk and the other men obtained stolen farm equipment, including trailers and all-terrain vehicles, and sold for a fraction of their value, the indictment says.

The alleged crimes took place in at least eight eastern Oklahoma counties.
