Some Tulsa University student-athletes received some off-the-field recognition on Monday.

Tulsa golfers Chris Worrell and Mark Mumford, both rising seniors, were named Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholars as announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).

To be eligible for Cleveland Golf/Srixon All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically, compete in at least three full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70-percent of his team's competitive rounds or compete in the NCAA Championships, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.2.

Also, Golden Hurricane men's and women's track & field teams were named Division I All-Academic Track teams for the 2011-12 season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

The Tulsa men's team had the third-best cumulative grade point average in the nation for a track & field team with a team GPA of 3.45 and was one of only 85 schools to earn the national academic team recognition. Duke and Stanford were the only schools with a better grade point average than the Hurricane.

The TU women's team was one of 171 institutions that earned the honor as a result of a cumulative 3.20 grade point average or better. The Hurricane women finished with an overall team GPA of 3.43.
