Speed Contributes To Crash That Hospitalizes Teen Driver, Infant Girl, OHP Says

Posted: Updated:
TULSA -

A Sunday afternoon Pushmataha County crash sent a teen driver and her infant daughter to the hospital, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol said.

Courtney Diane Butler, 16, of Clayton, was transported by medical helicopter to a Tulsa hospital in stable condition with head, arm and trunk injuries. Her passenger, a 2-month-old girl, was treated for head injuries in Talihina, then transferred to Tulsa.

The baby's condition is not known, OHP said.

Troopers said Butler was driving too fast as she was westbound on a county road. Butler ran off the road to the right, over-corrected, ran off the road to the left and traveled about 80 yards into trees, a collision report said.

Butler was driving a 1997 Isuzu Rodeo and was not wearing a seatbelt.  The child was using a rear-facing restraint system.
