Last week, a K-9 police dog working for the Panama, Oklahoma Police Department in Leflore County was shot to death.

Creed, a 2-year-old German Shepherd had been a member of the department since August 2011.

His handler, Sergeant Andy Bevil says the incident happened at his home on August 5, 2012, and it is believed that Creed was targeted.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 15, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the Panama First Baptist Church at 107 Jones Street.

Sgt. Bevil says while Creed was a K-9 officer, he assisted in the search of illegal narcotics in both Panama and Wister Public Schools. In addition, Creed had countless alerts to narcotics on vehicle traffic stops and aided in the tracking and apprehension of numerous suspects.

A Tulsa ministry, Ten-Four Ministries, that supports law enforcement is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution in connection with Creed's death.

Because Creed was the department's only K-9 officer, the ministry has also set up a fund to provide the Panama Police Department with another K-9 officer at
