Sooners Ranked No. 1 All-Time In Final AP Poll Study

College Football News broke down every college football program based on the final AP poll since 1936. The Sooners came out on top.

CollegeFootballNews.com released a study on Sunday breaking down the top programs in the country all-time using the final Associated Press poll as its criterion.

Since the inception of the poll in 1936, no team has fared better than the Oklahoma Sooners.

Oklahoma received a total score of 946.5 with No. 2 Michigan coming in a distant second with 919. Ohio State was third with 908, Alabama was No. 4 with 874 and Notre Dame wrapped up the top five with 872.5.

CFN's scoring system granted the No. 1 finisher in the final poll 25 points, No. 2 received 24 points, No. 3 got 23 points and so on down to No. 25 receiving one point.

Other teams of note from the Big 12 Conference and old Big 12 members were No. 7 Texas (750.5 points), No. 8 Nebraska (701), No. 20 Texas A&M (337), No. 28 Colorado (258), No. 30 TCU (230), No. 35 Missouri (217.5), No. 42 West Virginia (194) and No. 50 Kansas State(154).

Those teams were represented in the top 50 of the all-time final AP poll rankings. Oklahoma State finished just outside at No. 51 with 137 points. The Tulsa Golden Hurricane came in at No. 67 with 79 points.
