MAYES COUNTY, Oklahoma -

Firefighters fought as many as 14 separate grass fires along a rural road in Mayes County near Pryor Tuesday evening.

Firefighters say the fires were sparked by a tractor or a piece of farming equipment traveling south on 435 Road.

They say three trailers and a storage building burned, as well as some grass in between.

One of the trailers was occupied, but the resident was able to get out before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters notified that resident that his home was destroyed Tuesday night. The Red Cross will be coming to offer him assistance.

Crews from seven different fire departments were called to assist in fighting the fires.

The fire was producing thick black smoke, which caused the Oklahoma Highway Patrol to be called in to assist with traffic control in the area.

No injuries have been reported in connection with the fires.
