TULSA, Oklahoma -

A United Airlines jet flying from Houston to Tulsa experienced a bird strike as it was landing in Tulsa Wednesday morning.

United Airlines in a statement said the plane landed safely.

"ExpressJet Flight 4491 operating as United Express from Houston to Tulsa experienced a bird strike upon landing in Tulsa. The flight landed safely and without incident. A thorough inspection of the aircraft showed no damage."

United filed a report with Tulsa International Airport, as required by the FAA. TIA officials say in turn they will file a report with the FAA.

Airport officials told News On 6 the flight crew found a white streak on the exterior of the aircraft above the cockpit, but no damage.

The jet was manufactured by Embraer, a Brazilian aerospace company. The ERJ 145 is powered by two turbofan engines and seats 50 passengers.
