Oklahoma City police arrested a man accused of attacking another man and breaking his neck outside a club in Bricktown.

Police confirmed with News 9 they arrested Shawn Tran, also known as Thanh Van Tran, on Friday, September 7, at his workplace. He was booked on a complaint of aggravated assault and battery.

Tran is accused of attacking 25-year-old Phong Nguyen. According to police, Nguyen left Club 115 after 1 a.m. on September 3 with a friend and another man, later identified as Tran. Tran put his arm around Nguyen's neck. Witnesses said the two were speaking quietly and it appeared they were friends.

All that changed when Tran suddenly punched Nguyen in the face, and then ran off, according to police. Friends said Nguyen fell to the ground and was temporarily unconscious. Those friends drove him home and helped put him into bed.

Nguyen's family said when he didn't get out of bed the next day, they assumed he was intoxicated or suffering from a hangover. Eventually, they became concerned and took him to the hospital where they discovered he had a broken neck and a blood clot in his brain.

Doctors said the punch to his face caused the injuries. Nguyen had to undergo surgery and his current condition is unknown.
