The Drillers could only manage two hits in Sunday's winner-take-all game five, losing 3-1 to the Springfield Cardinals and ending their 2012 season.

Springfield got on the board quickly with two runs in the bottom of the second inning. Jamie Romak and Chris Swauger hit back-to-back doubles to lead off the inning, making it 1-0 Cardinals. Xavier Scruggs would drive in the second run on a sacrifice fly.

The lone Drillers' run came when Corey Dickerson doubled home Tim Torres in the third inning to cut the lead to 2-1.

Springfield extended the lead to 3-1 in the fourth when Xavier Scruggs once again hit a sacrifice fly to score Swauger.

Boone Whiting earned the win for Springfield, pitching seven innings and allowing just one run. Dan Houston took the loss for Tulsa, allowing three earned runs in just four innings.

Tulsa will be forced to wonder about what could have been if they had only held on to a 6-0 lead back in game one of the series. Instead, the Drillers will look to build off this playoff performance when they return to the field in 2013.
