Monday Morning Update

Posted: Updated:

Expect highs today in the upper 80s near 90 with southeast breezes around 10 mph.  The fire danger will be elevated today and will become high tomorrow as south winds increase speeds in the 10 to 20 mph range.  Our next storm system will be arriving Thursday evening into Friday bringing another round of rain and storms followed by a modest cool down for next weekend.

The upper air pattern will allow for another cold front to approach the area by Thursday evening into Friday.  South winds are expected to continue ahead of the boundary for the next few days which should gradually increase low level moisture across Eastern OK and Northeast Texas.   Both GFS and EURO data support the boundary arriving Thursday evening with a slight chance of showers and storms, followed by a post frontal precipitation event for most of Friday morning through early afternoon.  The timing and specific details of this system will more than likely experience some changes in the data between now and Thursday, but the confidence is high enough to include at least a 50% probability in the forecast for the Friday time period.  We will more than likely be increasing this probability during the next 24 to 36 hour cycle for Friday.  At this point, there could be a few lingering showers Saturday morning, but the likelihood will support this activity across the far southern part of the state into North Texas. Therefore, I will not include a slight probability for Saturday morning at this point in the forecast cycle.

Our temperatures will be warming to near 90 today after pleasant morning readings in the lower to mid-50s this morning.   Daytime highs will be in the lower or possibly mid-90s Tuesday and Wednesday before highs level off in the 80s Thursday with the increase in cloud over.  Friday morning we expect some rain with lows in the lower 60s followed by mostly cloudy and mild conditions with Friday afternoon highs in the upper 70s.  The weekend would support morning lows in the upper 50s and highs in the upper 70s to lower 80s Saturday and Sunday respectively.

The normal high is 86.  Yesterday afternoon the high temperature at Tulsa international was 89.  Morning lows average near 65.

We've had 0.11 inches of precipitation this month which brings our yearly total to 22.36 inches of precipitation.  This is -6.36 inches below what is considered normal for the year.

Sunrise this morning will be at 7:03AM followed by Sunset tonight at 7:38PM.
