A Tulsa company is celebrating its new office space by committing to help the city thrive.

Direct Energy workers will put in a minimum of 3,000 hours of volunteer work at local non-profits, over the next year.

The company has more than 200 employees, and says they take social responsibility seriously.

"Ultimately, the way that people trust you as a provider of services in their home, they have to know who you are,' said Direct Energy Residential President Steven Murray. "They have to know what you stand for beyond just delivering value. They have to know who you are, and this is a great way of showing who we are."

City Councilor Phil Lakin presented Direct Energy with a proclamation for its commitment to Tulsa.
