One man was killed and another woman was critically injured in a one-vehicle crash in Pittsburg County Friday night.
It happened just after 9:30 p.m. Friday, on State Highway 9A on-ramp to southbound U.S. 69.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada driven by 81-year-old Thomas Cosper of Colgate, Oklahoma, was westbound on highway 9A on the on-ramp to US 69, when it ran off the roadway to the right. The vehicle then rolled two and half times, coming to rest on its roof.
Cosper was pinned in the vehicle for about one hour and 15 minutes before being freed by Crowder and EuFaula Fire Departments. He was transported to McAlester Regional Hospital where he was later died from massive injuries.
A passenger in Cosper's vehicle, 86-year-old Ruby Hoskison of Allen, Oklahoma, was transported to St. John's Hospital in Tulsa in critical condition with massive injuries.
Both Cosper and Hoskison were wearing seat belts at the time of the collision, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
Troopers listed both the driver's condition at the time of the crash, and the cause of the collision as "unknown" in the OHP collision report.
