Police arrested a 14-year-old boy early Wednesday morning after police say he tried to shoot and kill an officer responding to a disturbance in southwest Oklahoma City.

Police say someone called 911 around 1:30 a.m. when Kameron Lewis Jenkins and his mother began fighting at the Will Rogers Courts apartments on S.W. 15th near Penn Avenue. The caller told the dispatcher Jenkins was armed with a handgun. Apparently, the teen and his mom were arguing over a court hearing the teen was scheduled to attend later Wednesday.

Oklahoma City Police Captain Dexter Nelson says Jenkins fired several shots at the first officer who arrived at the home, and then took off running. The officer was not hit.

A second officer fired shots at the fleeing suspect but Jenkins was not hit.

Eventually police caught up to the boy. They say he fought and struggled with officers, but they managed to subdue and arrest him. The teen could be charged with shooting with intent to kill.

Police say it is "alarming" a 14 year old was armed with a gun. They do not believe this is related to the weekend murders that happened in this same neighborhood.
