A coal train derailed on Thursday morning near Oktaha in Muskogee County.

A Union Pacific spokesperson said a total of 31 cars went off the tracks along a two-mile area.

The derailment occurred just north of Oktaha on County Road 93 and Oktaha Road, according to the superintendent of Oktaha schools.  Oktaha is located between Checotah and Muskogee.

Authorities say the derailment sparked a small grass fire.

Union Pacific said there were no injuries and that they've begun clean-up, though they didn't have an estimated time for the clean-up.

Union Pacific investigators are on the scene to try to determine the cause of the derailment.
