The Tulsa Historical Society donated a piece of Oklahoma history to Gilcrease Museum Thursday.

They handed over a manuscript of early Tahlequah history during a ceremony Thursday morning.

It was written by Carolyn and Grant Foreman in the 1930s, a project commissioned by the "Works Progress Administration" to chronicle American culture

Because the document isn't about Tulsa history, the Historical Society found it a new home at Gilcrease.

Michelle Place, of the Tulsa Historical Society, said, "If we come across something in our collection that doesn't really fit our mission, then we try to find where the home should be for it."

It turns out, Gilcrease has the rest of the Foreman papers, so today's transfer makes its collection more complete.
