An eastbound semi tractor trailer on I-44 swerved off the interstate highway at the Union Avenue bridge, shutting down 2 lanes of traffic for several hours Wednesday morning.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the semi's driver swerved for some unknown reason, striking an abandoned pickup truck parked on the inside shoulder.  Troopers say that caused the semi to roll onto its side next to the bridge over I-44.

The OHP says one eastbound lane of I-44 was closed as crews from the Oklahoma Department of Transportation inspected the bridge for damage and crews cleaned up the crash site.  The closed lane was reopened Wednesday afternoon.

Tulsa Fire was called to the scene to handle a leak from the semi's diesel tanks.  The truck was loaded with large panes of glass, which all broke.

The driver and his small dog were not injured.
