A controversial call that gave Texas the win over Oklahoma State in last Saturday's game was an error, says a Big 12 official who reportedly talked to Mike Gundy Tuesday.

Sources tell News 9 and News on 6 that Walt Anderson, the head of Big 12's football officials, spoke to Gundy about the call and acknowledged an error may have indeed took place when officials made the call for a touchdown. Admitting that Texas running back Joe Bergeron fumbled before crossing the goal line.

Anderson told Gundy head linesman Brad Edwards, who was positioned on the Texas side of the goal line, declared the touchdown too soon before proper view of the ball. OSU safety Daytawion Lowe recovered the ball from the pile and argued the call to another official as Edwards made the call.

Replay officials later confirmed the call. A Big 12 source reportedly confirms the replay call was correct because there was not enough evidence to determine a clear recovery, which goes away once the ball is lost in the pile.

However, the Big 12 is saying something different. According to a tweet they sent out after reports surfaced, they're saying that's inaccurate. @Big12Conference tweeted: "OFFICIAL: Reports that the Big 12 acknowledged a blown call and issued an apology to Oklahoma State are inaccurate."

We'll update this story as it develops.

With the loss, OSU drops to 2-2 and Texas improves 4-0.
