Almost 2,000 people spent the day giving back to the Tulsa community.

Sunday was the second annual "Day of Service" for Asbury Methodist Church.

Volunteers went to 30 different locations for service projects.

The senior pastor says the day was not only about serving, but teaching.

"We combine these together, so we want to instruct our children in how they're to live - how they're to care for others," Dr Tom Harrison, Asbury United Methodist Church, said. "We believe that when you care for other people, good things happen in your life as well."

Church members of every age got involved.

The oldest volunteer to sign up is 92 years old.
