Historic Tulsa School Building Destroyed By Fire To Be Demolished

Tulsa Public Schools paid nearly $200,000 for the demolition project, after a fire gutted the school last month.

Crews will begin tearing down the historic Barnard Elementary building Tuesday.

Tulsa Public Schools paid nearly $200,000 for the demolition project, after a fire gutted the school last month.

The fire displaced the students and teachers of Tulsa School of Arts and Sciences, who were moved into the empty Sequoyah Elementary School building.

Crews will have to remove asbestos and tear down the unstable brick walls.

The job is expected to take about a month.
