Oklahoma quarterback Landry Jones has been named one of 16 quarterbacks selected as semifinalists for the 2012 Davey O'Brien Award, presented annually to the nation's best college quarterback.

The Artesia, N.M., native owns a 34-9 record as a starter at OU, giving him the most victories in school history. Jones is already OU's all-time career leader in passing yards (14,023), passing yards per game (311.6), pass attempts (1,840), pass completions (1,154), 300-yard games (22), 400-yard games (9), touchdown passes (105), total offense (13,682) and total offense per game (304.0).

Jones' 14,023 career passing yards also ranks second in Big 12 history and is the highest total by an active FBS quarterback.

Two OU quarterbacks have won the Davey O'Brien Award on three occasions, including Jason White (2003, 2004) and Sam Bradford (2008), the most by any program in the last 10 years and the second most overall.

Three O'Brien finalists will be announced on Nov. 19 and the winner will be selected at The Home Depot College Football Awards on Dec. 6 on ESPN.

The Big 12 had the most semifinalists of any conference with five; the SEC was second with three. Out of the Big 12 Jones was joined by Baylor's Nick Florence, West Virginia's Geno Smith, Texas Tech's Seth Doege and Collin Klein from Kansas State.

Other notables included USC's Matt Barkley, Clemson's Tajh Boyd, Ohio State's Braxton Miller and E.J. Manuel from Florida State, among others.

Fans may now help determine which three quarterbacks will advance by voting as often as once daily at www.VoteOBrien.org. Fan voting will close at noon on Nov. 18.
