TULSA, Oklahoma -

One of the worst droughts in decades is showing little signs of easing across Oklahoma, but rain forecast into next week could bring good news for farmers and ranchers.

The weekly U.S. Drought Monitor update released Thursday shows little change in numbers from a week ago.

Twenty-seven percent of Oklahoma is in the exceptional drought category. That area stretches from the Oklahoma panhandle, across north central Oklahoma and into northeast Oklahoma.

The western half and central areas of the state remain in the extreme category and most of eastern half of Oklahoma is still in the severe category.
