Oklahomans who can't make it to the polls have until 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 31 to request an absentee ballot.

State election board officials say they've already sent out 66,000 absentee ballots.

According to the Associated Press, Oklahoma Republicans are leading Democrats in the number of absentee ballots submitted for the November 6 general election.

Election Board Secretary Paul Ziriax says that as of Friday, a total of 31,653 Oklahoma voters have mailed absentee ballots to county election boards.

A breakdown by party affiliation indicates that 36,518 absentee ballots have been mailed to Republican voters and 18,044 of them have been returned to election boards. A total of 24,868 ballots have been mailed to Democratic voters and 11,727 have been returned.

A total of 4,623 ballots have been mailed to voters who are registered independent. A total of 1,882 have been returned.
