A semi leaking diesel fuel just south of Bartlesville Thursday morning shut down south and northbound traffic on U.S. Highway 75 for several hours.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said the leak spilled the fuel across the southbound lanes and Bartlesville firefighters were called out to clean up the spill.

Troopers said it appeared that a drive shaft on the semi came loose and ruptured the fuel tanks on the semi.

The OHP and Bartlesville Police detoured traffic onto county roads around the spill location.

As of 3:30 p.m., all lanes of traffic were back open in each direction.
