Crews Extinguish Large Grass Fire In Blackwell

Parts of the town of Blackwell had to be evacuated as fire crews battled a large grass fire, Friday afternoon.

The fire is now under control and crews are mopping up hot spots.

At the height of the emergency, Blackwell Police issued a mandatory evacuation for areas from 18^th St. to 29^th St., including an apartment complex and the Ridgeway and Elmwood editions.

EMS was called in to help evacuate the elderly in the apartment complex.

It is unclear at this time if any structures were damaged or if anyone was hurt in this fire.
