The Tulsa-City-County Library unveiled a three-year-plan to completely overhaul the aging building Monday night.

The new renovations will more than double the current seating in the building.

Along with new study and meeting rooms, the library will also have twice the number of computers it has now.

The library will also be equipped with the latest technology, including ways to make the center more energy efficient.

"The existing building will basically be gutted and rebuilt, everything will be brand new," said architect Jeffery Scherer. "Brand new systems, electrical, mechanical, all new windows, all new insulation—it's basically a makeover."

Construction is set to begin a year from now and is expected to take about two years to complete.

The Central Library at 4th and Denver in downtown Tulsa is already weeding out the collection, to make a move to a temporary location a little easier.

The Central Library is slated to get $10-million from the Vision2 initiative, if it is approved by Tulsa County voters on Tuesday.
