Police: Lockdown Of NW OKC Stores Lifted After Gunman Found Dead

Multiple stores in northwest Oklahoma City were placed on lockdown Tuesday night as police officers searched for a gunman in the area. Police say the suspect has been found dead.

Multiple stores in northwest Oklahoma City were placed on lockdown Tuesday night as police officers searched for a gunman in the area. Police say the man has been found dead.

Multiple businesses, including a Dollar General store, located in the area of N.W. 178th and Portland, were placed under lockdown for about one hour.

Officers surrounded a home just 50 feet away from the Dollar General Store. The gunman was believed to be inside that home.

Police confirmed that the man was later found dead behind one of the stores. However, it is unclear at this time how he died.

Police also shut down 178th street and Portland as officers searched for the man.

The man's identity has not been released.

Both the Oklahoma City Police Department and the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident.
