Sooner All-American Tony Jefferson is looking forward to OU's game against West Virginia. I mean really looking forward to the game.

The junior safety says when the Mountaineers first joined their league he noticed that "they were talking smack." Jefferson said Tuesday night following practice that he's been "waiting all year for this one."

Jefferson may have spoken some bulletin board smack of his own when he was asked about West Virginia's tandem of star receivers Tavon Austin and Stedman Bailey: "They're good players, but we've faced better," he said.

Jefferson spoke highly of the Mountaineers as a team. He knows QB Geno Smith, who ranks third in the country in passing yards (337.8.), is a special talent. He and his mates in a much-improved Sooner secondary will have their hands full with Austin, who leads the country with 10.7 catches per game, while Bailey is third with 117.2 yards per game.

Jefferson said his team had a lot of energy in tonight's workout and that the focus is there. The plucky San Diego native is known to carry a swagger and is not known as a trash-talker. But he clearly realizes there's a big game on the horizon against a dangerous team with terrific skill players. But he also clearly believes he'll be ready, by saying he'll let his play do the talking.

Should be fun. Future NFL QB throwing to future NFL receivers against a future NFL safety. Can't get here soon enough.
