Southeastern Volleyball Trio Earns GAC Honors

The Savage Storm placed three players on the All-GAC team, highlighted by Megan Kunkel earning Freshman of the Year honors.

Kunkel added an honorable mention selection to her individual award, while Emily Gentle was named to the second team and Madelynne Cera joined Kunkel with an honorable mention selection.

Kunkel was second on the team with 2.84 kills per set and was just as strong on the defensive side, turning in 3.04 digs per set. She turned in 18 double-digit kill performances with a season-high of 17. She also added 13 double-doubles with a season-high of 21 digs.

Gentle earned second team honors after leading SE with 3.08 kills per set and was third on the team in digs with 2.50 dps. She turned in 18 double-digit kill outing with a season-high of 23, while also adding nine double-doubles that included season-highs of 15 digs on four occasions. Gentle also added 43 blocks on the season.

Cera earned honorable mention honors after turning in an incredibly versatile season as a setter. She dished out 5.22 assists per set, but added one of the most all-around efforts of any setter in the GAC. Her season was highlighted by the first two triple-doubles in SE history and finished the regular season averaging 1.19 kills per set, 2.06 digs per set and adding 30 blocks on the year.

Southeastern will open GAC tournament play on Nov. 15 when it faces top-seeded and host Harding at 5 p.m. in Searcy, Ark.
