An Oklahoma City man fought back when he arrived home and found an intruder burglarizing his home.

Around 11:30 p.m., the man pulled into his garage in the 4300 block of N.W. 15th Terrace, which is near N.W. 16th Street and Meridian. The victim said he heard noises in the house, so he ran to the door leading from the garage to the kitchen.

The victim said he was met at the door by the suspect, 29-year-old Rodney Dean Jarvis. The victim said Jarvis immediately attacked him. The two struggled in the kitchen, and the victim said Jarvis grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the leg.

The victim continued to fight. According to the police report, Jarvis then hit the victim over the head with a model cannon and fireplace poker. The victim was eventually able to grab a knife, and he stabbed Jarvis in the ribs. That ended the fight. The victim then called 911.

Both Jarvis and the homeowner were taken to OU Medical Center for treatment. They're expected to be okay.

Police arrested Jarvis on complaints of second-degree burglary and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Police said it appears Jarvis entered the house by breaking out a window in a door leading from the backyard into the garage.
