The entire week has been absolutely wonderful regarding our weather with cool mornings and pleasant fall afternoons. It appears our nice weather will remain for most of the weekend but a weak disturbance could trigger a few showers or storms Sunday evening through Monday evening.
The upper air flow allowed a weak system to slide across the state overnight with a few clouds and winds shifting from the south to the north. We'll experience mainly sunny and mild conditions today with light winds and highs near 63.
South winds will return this weekend and will attempt to transport low level moisture back into the region by Sunday and Monday. Most model data brings a small disturbance across the state Sunday evening with a few showers or storms into Monday morning. Another disturbance should also approach Monday evening with another shot of storms across the eastern sections of the state into Ark. The probability will remain on the low side for this system due to the expected lack of quality moisture across the state.
The remainder of the extended forecast including the Thanksgiving time period features some controversy. GFs data brings a warm air mass into the region Wednesday and Thursday, but also brings a disturbance that could trigger thunderstorms Thursday evening into Friday across eastern OK. EURO brings the system nearby but is not quite as aggressive with the precipitation forecast. Needless to say, we'll have eye to the model data and observations as we grow closer to the middle of next week.
