The University of Oklahoma volleyball team secured its 20th win of the 2012 season Wednesday night, topping TCU 3-1 (21-25, 25-16, 25-16, 25-17) at McCasland Field House in its home finale.

The Sooners improved to 20-10 on the year, and 9-6 in Big 12 competition, while the Horned Frogs break even at 14-14 and drop to 3-12 in conference action.

With the win, the Sooners hit the 20-win mark for the third consecutive season.

Despite dropping the first set, Oklahoma battled back with a consistent offensive effort throughout the remainder of the match. The team struck down a season-best 61 kills to hit .302 on the night off of 139 total attempts and 19 errors.

However, it was the Sooners' efforts behind the service line that pushed them ahead as a pair of freshmen - Julia Doyle and Kierra Holst - each totaled three service aces en route to a program-best nine aces in a four set match. Grace Whitley, Caroline Weir and Maria Fernanda each added one a piece.

Two seniors - outside hitter Morgan Reynolds and libero Fernanda – played in their final match inside McCasland Field House with four years representing OU under their belt.

Reynolds led the team with 13 kills for the match, and was one of four Sooners to knock down double-digit kills. Dunn added 12, Whitley followed with 11 on 15 swings with just one error to hit an efficient .667, while Sallie McLaurin knocked down 10 of 21 attempts to hit .476 for the match.

In addition to her offensive efforts, McLaurin added a team-high eight total blocks off one block solo and seven block assists.

Once again, Fernanda excelled defensively, adding 19 digs against the Horned Frogs to lead the team in the category for the 29th time this season, and 99th of her career in the crimson and cream.

Fernanda was followed by sophomore setter Caroline Weir who had a career night with 11 digs and a co-team high 26 assists. Freshman setter Julia Doyle also added 26 assists of her own, and was just one dig shy of a double-double performance with nine against the Horned Frogs.

The Sooners close out the 2012 regular season Saturday night against No. 25 Kansas State in Manhattan, Kan. First serve is set for 7 p.m. CT.
